Notes About The Poem

Cookie Dough Saga

Long ago, as mom rolled dough, she said, "No!
You know you're not allowed to eat this raw cookie treat,
so sweet." "Yes, this I knew, but your cookie goo
is good to chew - a delight that tastes so right!"

I missed her gist and sunk my hand up to my wrist.
She made a fist, and said, "Stop!", but...plop -
into my gut, a glop of batter - not waiting for the cookie platter
to get fatter. I beat a hasty retreat.

Mom yelled. I was expelled. With her broom I was propelled.
Soon, compelled to return to find my mom, once out of her mind,
was kind. I asked, "Perhaps, may I have ginger snaps?"
To my hand claps, she said, "Have some "...and hit me on the bum.

- I can remember the taste of the dough... but, of course, it wasn't allowed... I'd sneak a little bit now and then... thank you for bringing back good memories :) - Happy weekend, David :) - hugs

That made me laugh David, you must have been a handful in your boyhood, but a dear handful I bet… Beryl
