Conversation With a Radio

Stayin’ up again, all nite long,
Comic book characters take me along,
On midnite rides of fun and fear,
Oh, to have free time & some cheer.
The lites are brightly burning eyes,
The SDO is on the sly,
Can’t stop now, 4 hours more,
Can’t sleep now or close the door.
Oh yeh, it’s great to count the tiles,
On and along for endless miles,
Minds going blank can’t see at all,
Whoa back buck I’m startin’ to fall.
Chessmen smile and say “Go slow”
Grasp latch and swing wide the window,
Crisp cool air comes tumbling in,
Yes, its true someday soon I’ll win.
2 a.m. and all’s going well,
Think I'll sit and rest a spell,
Bill Baileys on to cheer me up!
But all I know is this place sucks!
“Sign that Roster, give me your card!”
The pig shouts out, man is he hard.
I sit and smile and dream and gaze,
   I’m now down to 9 more days….
