Confused

Past realistic illusions leave me confused.
Present fantasized reality leaves me abused.
Asked my old love, she simply refused.
My life is just a ticking, waiting to be difused.

I don't know what to ask for anymore.
Shades of dreams turn pale these days.
Empty pocket journey on my way to the store.
Mindful of time erasing my thoughts in a haze.

I'm begging for the absolute of yesterday.
I swear to God, it's all a big cruel joke.
Someday prayers might help me find my way.
But like my dreams, I hope they don't go up in smoke.

Sent to prison behind my door.
Twisted tight about to lose my mind.
Drowning in a sea upon the shore.
Happiness in truth, I just can't find.

Sitting and hoping for the air to clear.
To hitch my wagon to a brighter day.
When will I believe what I want to hear?
Am I to blind to see what I just can't say?

btw, I loved your remark about tom jones! He had some pretty cool songs which sound corny to folks these days.

I think everyone must feel this way at one time or other. You expressed it well. Hope you have brighter days ahead. I am hoping the same for myself!

It's great to see you back writin again. Another great verse with echoes of sadness to pry the mind. Enjoyed the story as always.
