Conflict Between Heart and Mind
I told you I had to go
The words I spoke were true
but I forgot to tell this heart of mine
Now it won't stop loving you .
What we shared was great while it lasted
but it was time for it to end
I truly was delighted
We were able to part as friends.
I felt a genuine smile within my mind
When I saw you with your new man
but from the aching deep inside
I knew my heart just didn't understand.
Now I have a conflict between my heart and mind
and before the healing process can begin
I must undergo a torrid time
This is one battle my mind must win .
I can't stop my heart from loving
To do so would be unkind
So I must find a way to stride the hurdles
My heart places before my mind.
You know I wish you all the best
May your every dream come true
A corner of my heart will always
Be reserved for you.
