conference with the science teacher

Our science teacher is grizzly, my son said.
He wants to speak to both you and Ned.
Ned was my sixth husband, home in bed.
What did you do? I asked my son Ed.

I set a conference with the science teacher.
Figured I was getting a lecture, like from a preacher.
He has done nothing wrong, the grizzly said.
But he keeps staring at me, is something wrong with Ed?

I did not hear this, because my heart was beating fast.
I was scared to death, I wanted to run but I had a cast.
I could not get my mind off the fact they had hired a bear.
Frankly, I could not wait to run out of there.
