Concerto

The long strings trembled
As the soft hammer
Hammered softly
Against the long strings

The other hammers danced
And bobbed up
Striking their heads
Against a ceiling
Of long strings

Dark, so dark,
But awash with song
As it bursts out
To where?
Where does it belong?

As it tickles the ears
Of an audience that hears
A rendition
A composition
From a long string
Of old masters
