Commitment
I would step, in trepidation,
the floor would slide
beneath my toes;
the unknown, a well
of sadness,
worried how far it goes.
To where would my heart plummet
if I dropped it
like a rose?
Would the petals vanish,
surrendered
to a fate that heaven knows?
I would court anticipation,
simmering inside,
and what would happen then?
Hesitation at the journey
to the stars
and back again.
I am ready for commitment,
I can see it,
count to ten;
I am yours if you still want me,
simply
tell me where and when.
