Coming Out of the Shadows
I was stuck in a cave, surrounded by the dark.
Shadows haunt me.
They seek my soul.
The shadows from suicide.
Are the ones I won't let go.
Razors, burns, cuts, and scars,
They're left in the shadows
like the sky had stars.
I walk on an empty road,
And the shadows fallow wherever I go.
But they fallow me.
So I don't have to fear,
the shadows who had once been here.
I fallow the sun, and my dreams now.
But there's still a question I ask....
How?
How did I leave those shadows behind?
Will they still haunt me in my mind?
Are they waiting in every corner?
Waiting for me to turn my shoulder?
They could be here.
They could be there,
The shadows of death are in fact everywhere.
But I've stepped out
And into the sun.
Now I'm free, so I'll go run.
The shadows that cuffed me, and held me down,
Now shrivel away and soak into the ground.
The shadows of death are in the world.
But not any more for depressed boys and girls...
