Come To Me

Come to me here in the evening shade
when the memories are lost or start to fade
and the dark around makes me shaking and afraid.

Sing to me amidst the scent of heather
a song of happier years spent together,
when I believed there was nothing we couldn't weather.

Sit beside me as the years betray
in the cool rays of a late November day
where we sat with nothing needed to say.

Walk with me in my mind's reprieve
along the garden paths dry with fallen leaves
and know you were all I wanted to believe.

Whisper in my ear as all else disappears,
tell some secret untold throughout the years
hidden behind a mask of shared joy and tears.

Touch your hand to my face
caress the cheeks with your hidden grace
and wipe away the ages we have traced.

Softly kiss me on my lips
with gentle reminder of our lives quickly eclipsed
by dreams and love on our journeyed trip.

Hold me to your breast, warm and safe
where heartbeat protects our great escape
and in the evening shadows let fall the closing drape.
