Come By the Sword Die By the Sword

when your were born you cried.
your tears like swords in your mother's heart
holding you close she sighed
she was with you from the start

throughout your years she watched you
holding you when you would shed a tear
each sword like tear in her heart struck true
though to you it was not clear

soon you grew and became a parent
and knew that sword quite well
for each time they cried that sword was sent
to where forever it would dwell

as they grew older so did you
until it was time for you to die
and as you lay down in that bed for two
your children said goodbye

one by one they leaned over your heart
as they said their last goodbyes
the tears , the sword, with you right from start
hit one last time as you closed your eyes
