College Days
College Days
Kevin Davis 2025
Before college, my path was dim, unclear;
I searched for wisdom—something to hold dear,
To hear the call that I was meant to heed,
And shape my best in every thought and deed.
So filled with questions, restless at the gate,
I stepped inside to test my budding fate.
The first year brought the tasks I’d long been told,
Yet each small spark began to kindle bold.
One course, though, stirred a deeper, brighter fire—
It's quiet call awakened true desire.
Beyond its pages, all my thoughts broke free,
Like rivers swelling toward a boundless sea.
By the second year, my hunger sharpened still.
New texts revealed a wider, richer will.
I sought out minds where insight could be bridged—
Where living thought and practice were unfettered.
Then came year three—I pressed with steady aim,
With kindred spirits drawn by equal flame.
We turned to mentors, eager to be shown
How questions grow where seeds of thought are sown.
With tools in hand, with punch cards set in line,
We tested truths by method and design.
We watched, we weighed, let curiosity lead—
Each day a lesson, each attempt a seed.
From patient work, new understandings grew,
Each one a mark, each one a path made new.
Then graduate halls called deeper still my name,
Where discipline refined the inner flame.
Through theses and long, unyielding hours,
I learned the quiet strength of seeking powers.
And colleagues there became enduring friends,
Whose shared pursuits still echo without end.
Even now, though years have drawn their line,
Our paths converge in thought and grand design—
In work, in wonder, still our spirits blend,
For knowledge gained is never at its end.
