in general, I am not a haiku fan, probably mostly because I am an oafish rube who doesn't understand the form, but this i like!

Thank you so much, Andrea. I suspect the other birds have cold feet, too, but the sparrows are so small and fragile.

I bet their feet aren't the only thing that's cold. Great haiku, Milt! Congrats on your win! Blessings, Kim M

Milt, congratulations on your win! The forest is truly an amazing, enchanted place when ice coats the trees. Love your metaphor of bending but not breaking and your observation about the sparrows is delightful! Hope they have a warm and cozy nest to warm those feet. Blessings.

Can you send some of that snow our way? We have a blocking high off the coast that is keeping the rain from us and the snow from the mountains! Have noticed that you all have been in the grip of winter! Sending back warm and cozy blessings to you - and warm feet!

True, indeed, Terry. Having just cleaned off my car and cleared my driveway, I know the true meaning of "cold feet."

Anne-Lise, thank you. Yes, I think they must wish they could do something to protect their tender feet. Nature is not always kind, you know.

Thank you, Alexis. From the winter haikus I have read, the competition is very stiff in this contest. I just hope I place!
