Cold core

Cold Core
?A quiet dread begins to settle near,
A sudden, cold assurance of the fright;
It is a heavy shadow, sharp and clear,
A fear that only waits until the night.
The door is locked, yet safety feels untrue,
The smallest sound will always pierce me through.
