Cold

Cool, cool is midnight
and forever off is dawn
and here we are leaving
and tomorrow we will be gone.

Cold, cold is the hand
that slips into yours
and fast is the heartbeat
of a foolish little girl.

Cool, cool are the stares
and the whispers that follow;
the breaking of their happiness
though, it was always hollow.

Cold, cold, am I alone
and I hold tight to what I know
I can hear you in a whisper
and I am never alone.

Cool, cool is the night
and ever off is dawn,
will you take me with you?
Leave behind the pawns.
