Coach T Is a Boy

Can girls play football? Boys are screaming no Not all the boys Some Can boys be chefs? Girls are shaking their heads Not understanding at all That the best chefs are men and women Why must we slice people up and push them into pigeon holes? Why do we do that? What is the point? I tell the children that Couch T plays football They all love Coach T I love Coach T Coach T is a boy! One of the kindergarteners shrieks at me I had not considered that they thought this. Two more boys begin shrieking that Coach T is a boy. I have never asked Coach T how she identifies herself. We all have a they; some of us know it; others have no idea I am in a quandary now Do I ignore this? I am at a loss.

It is wonderful that most little kids do not make the kinds of judgements about people we do. All they see is Coach T, and they love him. They do not care about Coach T's genitalia or self-identification. I love it.

They love him/her/they with a passion and so do I. No matter how she identifies himself.
