Clouds of Discouragement

CLOUDS OF DISAGREEMENT Clouds of disagreement because we all don’t see The messages of Scripture quite like they’re meant to be. Clouds of disagreement--they cover up the Son And bring a strong division that long ago begun. Yet though these clouds created, He somehow seems to glow Within our hearts united because His grace we know. There are well-meaning preachers who tell us we should be Apart and separated from others not like we. I see a truth important in that teaching that I hear, But wonder if it’s helping more clouds to then appear. For many times a person with whom I disagree Will bring a special message of comfort there to me. If I focus on his doctrine, his church or on his creed, I eclipse then his message that I may desperately need. God did not make us robots, we don’t all think alike, So why, then, all this turmoil, why then all this strife? I wonder if the devil has craftily this planned So Christ’s pure simple message will not reach out to man? Yes, standards are important, and so is doctrine, too, But clouds of disagreement can block a greater view! For some important issues some preach so much about Can become a cloud to others, and even make us doubt. We’ll question their salvation, or doubt their walk below Just over disagreements like some so well we know. I say they have importance, on them I do agree, But not to cloud another who might minister to me. Some day through clouds of heaven He’ll come back for us all, No one, with all our differences, will miss that heavenly call. Through clouds of disagreement He’ll come to make us one, So let us now endeavor to be more like His Son. For when we take that challenge, His light will brighter glow, And clouds of disagreement will from us quickly go.
