CLOSING THE GAP

Hurry, bustle, run about
No one is slow and sure
Oh, I'm irritated by others
And what I must endure

Sharp, brisk, even crude
Words have no cushion
Oh, I'm tired of being strong
For the steel blades pushin'

...the flesh

Eyes, always leering, nearing, gearing
For the moment to take and grab
Oh, I'm being suspicious, cautious
Against all those who want what I have

Tongues wagging, swagging, bragging
About wealth accumulated and worn
Oh, I'm sad I have nothing to share
Wearing old clothes, stained and torn

...the mind

Degrees and titles that attach
Making names great among men
Oh, I'm being ashamed of my record
Showing my education couldn't bring me to win

Streets, roads, highways, even paths
Lined with gap between the walls
I'm drawing the line right here
Where dishonor lives and falls

...the spirit

Measuring difference between what is
And what we want to be true
Is the gap that is created in reality
Where "the self" can not accept "you"

The walk of LOVE in our everyday lives
Erects mirrors to show us the way
When we look and see what is judged
The acceptance and connection will slay

...the matter
