Closer To Jesus

Listen to poem:
Closer to Jesus David J Walker I was wondering if you were going To wear your house to Church today And pray by chance to Park your car in One of the pews Where parishioners pay their dues For the privilege of sitting Closer to Jesus I was wondering if Sunday dinner was better Prepared by the white chefs Of the country club With views from picture windows Overlooking the golf course Where Jews were not allowed Of course Are they now? I wonder How much of a failure I must seem compared to the Dream of measured wealth In the near-perfect stealth Of make and taking and talking of fortunes table to table

I really enjoyed this David. Much food for thought. So much onus is put on financial and social wealth in our western society yet we should also count our health and freedom in there too methinks. They are more important. I love listening to your recitals too. David, I notice you missed the line "And pray by chance to.." in your recital. A great poem. Cheers - Gary
