Close To You
The snowfall mounting up outside
it drifts in dreamlike sheets of white,
my heart forlorn yet pacified
keeps rhythm with the fall of night.
Lanterns string the empty trees,
casting shadows, auburn, gold,
the slumber of a world in freeze
in restful state of stilling cold.
As wisps of cloud deface the moon
and blind it's eye of silver tears,
remotely choirs give a tune
intended only for my ears.
All feels well inside of me,
such feelings never to forsake,
and close to you will always be
this heart forever wide awake.
