Clementine Chooses the Worst Times to Call
Clementine calls the second we sit down to eat
she wants to talk about gout in her feet
I look at my meal wasting away
irritated I answered the phone right away
you know she does this all the time
Says my husband, frustrated at Clementine
hang up on her! My son says. She is not bright.
I cannot do it, for I was socialized exactly right.
Clementine sometimes calls at ten-thirty too.
My husband gets angry and throws a shoe.
No one should call anyone at this hour!
You are giving this gossip too much power!
Calling at the worst time is legend for her.
I have tried to give her hints. What is the cure?
Don’t answer the phone! My husband says rather strong.
I have to admit, his idea seems more right than wrong.
