Cleanse His Soul

He felt the need to cleanse his soul
Purity of heart was his fateful goal
For righteousness sake I heard him say
And to return again on the chosen day

For travelling his world soiled him in its way
Need was the call that would not go away
So he spent the time in the wilderness
With each second he felt he was blessed

Then to return to the world in his nakedness
And not shy away from the task set in the wilderness
Even if it cost him everything
Righteousness was the song his soul would sing.
