Cleaning Up the Mess

S-moky Sunday night
H-as been replaced by dawn;
E-arly Monday takes over,
I-t's a big birthday occasion.
L-et second day January erase the mist and haze;
A-s you wake from slumber, behold, watch, and gaze.

O-pen both your eyes
B-efore the beacon rises;
R-ays above the ocean
A-re cleaning up the mess.
