Clay Bells

Choral voices housed in clay, clapped Ring out wild bells to the wild sky Freed from within the frame thus trapped Hear their harmony, earthen cry. Refined or raucous, righteous, sound Ring out wild bells to the wild sky Make the air vibrate all around Joyous the Word our voices try. Fire to warm the winter deep Ring out wild bells to the wild sky The year soon ends within the keep Souls stoked sing resoundingly. Let the taste of metal on tongue Ring out wild bells to the wild sky Rejoice, a New Year has begun And all of mankind cries goodbye.

There is a sense of transcendancy that you give mortality ... as if to say it cannot truly die while the praise exist

Very lyrical, love the Tennysonian allusion. Love the tender thread of metaphysics, a sweet poem.

What a great and imaginative poem. Ring out wild bells to the wild sky...clay bells...what an interesting approach...and successful. Big smiles to my dear friend.

This was a challenging prompt and you have tackled it with eloquence. Nicely done, and thank you so very much for your kind words on my poem "Jack" as well. Much appreciated.

Very nicely done, deb. I might be penalized for how I did mine. I just had to write about Lord Tennyson instead of the new year. I hope I can remember where I put my notepad. I had a very bad weekend and in the midst of it all, I don't know where my last poetry stuff went to. Good luck in this contest. LUv, Andrea
