Clarion Call

I was asleep when i first heard it Loud and harsh in the dead of night It rang out a message,a call Come mothers, fathers, brother and all So up in a daze I stumbled Running out, shirt unbuttoned Was this the beginning of the end? If so who would they send? The crowd grew, people whispered What could have happened, they wondered A clarion call we thought was a bit much Yet did we gather outside the church Silence fell with the Chief's voice Slicing sharply through the noise "The worst has happened Draw your swords, have it sharpned Indeed while at night we all slept Our beloved City endured a theft Gather all the young men of valour For our village whore has lost her honor".
