Circus World

The children saw the glory and the fame The high-wire acts of aerial bravery Adults could see the hang-dog looks and shame We knew the truth, performers' misery Behind the scenes they rued the life they led Uneducated, soulless, barren bred The endless road, no place to call a home The circus over, once again alone

That's life... some must perform others must do what they must...a good management tactic is required in all circumstances...

Very interesting take on this one, my friend. You're right. One has to be able to manage the hand he/she is dealt! Thanks, Arturo. Best wishes, gw

kind of like the fairmen and women, travel from town to town not having a place to call home or family...makes you wonder how many were rejected by all and took this lifestyle just to be around people and feel like they fit in somewhere! we never see behind the scenes... good write Gershon :) hugs

Could be you're right about the original performers... What of the kids? Their lives are so restricted and so transient. Seeing the world isn't all it's cracked up to be... No place like home...although they never really have one. Thank you, as always, for your insights. :) gw

I cannot imagine that life for myself, but imagine some of the children love it as much as other children despise it, right? Your empathy is wise.

I think these circus kids realize that while they get to 'see the world,' they don't get to meet any 'normal kids' or participate in 'normal activities.' :) gw
