Circles 2009

Bare foot and tattooed
I saw you sat
On an empty porch step
Blaring out Clair de Lune
As usual
Controversial and repetitive
These are the lives we live
In order to be different
Couldn't we just,
Remain the same?
In order to evoke a change

So where were you going?
I saw you hurrying
When you knew the march was on
Head down and smirking
Walking against the crowds
Trying too hard to look;
Humbled and forlorn
Chasing 'round and around
Like a pair of fools
If I’d known you’d follow me,
I’d never have followed you!

Awesome poem, Naomi! I don't think I've read much of your work before, but I'll definitely be on the lookout for it now. I love the way the two of you were "following" each other. Sounds like fate needed to intervene to bring you together. Great work! Love, Carolyn

Thank you-everyone. I think this is the basic outline for something that will eventually be a lot longer-any critique would be greatly appreciated and humbly received!!
