Circle
Circle
Circle
The autumn leaves have fallen down
Like a celebration from trees unto the ground
An end to summer yellow now orange brown
A cycle of the past once new to pass to tomorrow found
Small animals gathered and burrowed beneath to sleep so sound
A raven still circles to feast on fruits fallen or on trees and bushes all around
And weather blackens to grey clouds and rain spittle's faces all a drown
All but purple thistles have fallen and bowed to wait for spring and shout out loud
The grass now sleeps with muddy feet to patter and crush splatter splash and pound
The wind makes cheeks all bright red and dries like the chocolate brown leaves that crumple round
The little birds seek worms on frosty mounds to hope for breakfast to warm their breasted bow
Spinning Jennies fly circling down and chestnuts for gathering with holly and berries to make a festive crown
A winter beckons with hail and sleet so batten down and snuggle up beside the fire orange and red and blue to call the end of a year and hope for new harvests to feed our mouths
Though autumn leaves us like a lion proud it makes sure there's plenty for spring underneath just waiting till the warmth of the sun comes once again to say the circles still astound
