Church, Steeple, People

Mourning tools
clasped, and woven
directing
nailed fine pointers
marking place
tapping tunes now
knitting lives and braiding hair

Birthing tools
glorious signs
passing words
keeping all time
patting cheeks
rubbing wet eyes
fingers steeple and crown me

I would have never known about the Lord and His people except thru the love of my grandmother...This poem reminded me of a quaint little rhyme my Bible class teacher taught me when I was 6 yrs old. "This is the church, this is the steeple, open its doors, and see all the people!...Ahhh, your whitney gives me refreshment, Debbie! Enjoyed the other images of comfort and nurturing...This was a first place winner and I just read Nette's comments below...she feels badly I can tell...Your great work didn't go unnoticed. love, gwendolen
