Christmas Will Live On

CHRISTMAS WILL LIVE ON

Some want to take the symbols all away,
And change the name and meaning of the day.
But Christmas will live on in hearts and minds
Who’ve put their faith in what it means and find
That this is so much more than just a day;
It is a living truth that’s here to stay.
So take away these things now, if you will;
The message of this day will linger still.
Christ’s coming is not wrapped up in a day
Or scenes or words of greeting we may say.
And all these things, if gone, will never change
The story and the reason why He came.
You might take Christmas from this land today,
But you can’t take the Christ of it away!
He will live on, though names and scenes desist,
And His judgment you will not miss or resist.
Yes, Christmas is much more than words or scenes;
There’s something far more precious that it means:
That Christ came to this earth so long ago
Before the scenes and words that we now know.
The message of salvation through His word
Is what this day’s about, so have you heard?
If you’ve trusted in the message of this day,
That faith lives on, though all else goes away!
So if some day these other things are gone,
Christ lives, and Christmas will live on.
