Christmas Trees

I do not buy a Christmas tree (I’m Jewish, after all) Yet wonder every year as people Trundle with their haul. What makes them buy one weeks before Or just on Christmas eve? Is Norway spruce or Douglas fir The best with which to leave? Do ceiling heights determine If they splurge on one real tall? Will it decorate the living room, The entryway or hall? I know that boxed-up ornaments Are meant to be reused. Will new ones join the party, though? (I’m just a bit confused.) My neighborhood is filled with stands Of evergreens in wait, So questions bounce inside my brain Each year around this date.

I never put up one that I have to use a ladder to decorate...I'm too accident prone. We reuse plastic ornaments as we have a cat...that means, we won't need to worry about vet bills for picking glass out of kitty's paws. When I was a very little kid, we had fresh ones but, my Mom decided the artificial ones were handier. Loved the poem.

Great write, Ilene. Real trees are so expensive and a real pain to nurse thru the Christmas season and keep them looking good. I have an artificial one with built in lites and is easy to manage! Thank you for your kind words re poor old Rudolph - I think I'll leave him alone for awhile since I've been unmercifully picking on him! And thanks for your Christmas Greeting - Bob

We have never had a real tree even as children, always artificial. we now just have a tiny tree on the windowsill which we put lights on tonight, was given to us by a friend who died in 2016 so its a reminder of her every year, few presents (hubby and I aren't bothering with gifts for eachother and son had birthday & Christmas money early for when he was traveling for 3 months) - the best gift is having my son home next week:-) hugs jan xx
