Children so excited, they cannot sleep, hoping Santa will leave lots of new toys. Rudolph guides the sleigh in snow crisp and deep Is he visiting these good girls and boys? Silently Santa creeps into the house, to leave presents under the Christmas tree. Moving around as quiet as a mouse at midnight; when sleeping children can’t see. Soon children wake to see if Santa’s been, many wishing for the toys of their dreams. All glad that their Christmas letters were seen Giggling happily; hear their joyful screams. I reminisce on my own childhood days, carefree and simple in so many ways. Checked with how many syllables Contest: A Christmas sonnet acrostic Sponsor Andrea Dietrich 12~06~15

Jan, congrats on your win. Wish my children were younger and still believed in Santa, the requests have been relentless these past few days and they are still at it.

It is a magical time when they are young Rob. My son has never been one for the latest things so buying anything is difficult for him so he gets money to buy what he wants when he wants - we are exactly the same I still haven't for my hubby a birthday present from November! Have a wonderful day with your loved ones:-) hugs Jan xx

The construction of your poem is very clever and shows just how much effort it took to get it just right. Good luck with this one and have a Merry Christmas. Emile.

very good I always liked acrostic poems, they are challenging to make and hard too...especially when it comes to the rhyming part, but you did great on this one...loved it...

I love the rhyme and flow, but mostly the joy that shines in each line because I need Xmas inspiration and this may have done it - so hard without my son. Got to find a rhyme and rhythm for 'different' Christmas'! And this helped. Lovely, Jan ... CayCay

This was not at all easy to do, Jan. Modern sonnets do not appear to be so strict on traditional rules, so I would not stay worrying about meter. To be honest I think you did a good job. Well done! Hugs // paul
