Christmas In New England
It's Christmas in New England
I can see the Northern star.
My thoughts like dreams of yesterday
I wonder how you are.
Childrens laughter fills the air,
apple cider in a cup.
Eyes like lights on Christmas trees
oh how they all light up.
Presents strewn about the floor
the pleasures that they bring.
Somewhere in the distance
I hear a church bell ring.
So many miles between us now,
I guess they always will.
Yet I know inside somehow
you stand beside me still.
Candy canes and lollipops
in stockings by the door.
Gifts all wrapped with Christmas cheer
for those that we adore.
My mind goes racing back in time
I'm wishing you were here.
Like Christmas how it used to be
when I still had you near.
And it's Christmas in New England
I can see the Northern star.
My thoughts like dreams of yesterday
I wonder how you are.

This poem is about the mixed feelings that we all feel at this time of year. Loving those around us and missing those that aren't.
May your Christmas this year be everything you need it to be and even more than you could hope for.
And may you sense the presence of all that you can't see with your eyes. In the presents you hold in your hands.
God bless. And have a Merry Christmas.
