Christmas Gift From Heaven

CHRISTMAS GIFT FROM HEAVEN

God sent a great gift to me,
Wrapped in flesh and Deity.
Laid Him in the cattle's bed
With some straw there for His head.
Covered with the rags of death,
Taking His first baby breaths.
Parents kneeling closely by
Watching as the child did lie.
Filled with wonder, worship, awe
Over such a gift they saw.
Then that quiet, starlit night
Came into the sky a sight:
Angels singing in the air
Of that child now lying there.
Shepherds came, this gift to see,
Lying there for you and me.
Yes, this gift was there for you;
God gave it for ALL to view.
For He loved us in our sin,
So this way of entering in
To the world that quiet night--
Such a humble, lowly sight--
Was His way of showing love
From His heavenly home above.
Christmas gift from heaven receive;
Just by simple faith believe
That you need Him to forgive
And to come, within you live.
Come, receive Him while you may,
Jesus is God's gift today.
