Christmas Eve By the Fire
It’s Christmas Eve, fire
lovers by the hearth, others
unanimous flee
Camp Pendleton, soldiers, spouse,
kids presently forfeit gifts
a fire warms the heart, the Christmas tree — bonds true lovers in ecstasy
a fire lights up morphed lives — creek fire sends smiles, rosy cheeks into cruel night
