Christmas Elves Kidnapped Fay

Christmas elves swooped down on me and whisked me away
Because they liked my hat! Claimed our crazy neighbor Fay
Why didn’t they just take the hat? I asked, toasting my bread.
I don’t know, she admitted. Maybe they liked the shape of my head.

Where did they take you? My husband asked, a big surprise.
He usually does not care about her story and it is barely sunrise.
To the North Pole, of course! Fay said, with a look at my toast.
This wild story is so like her, but at least it was a whine not a boast.
