Christ Is My Friend
CHRIST IS MY FRIEND
Some times I feel alone and left behind by all;
The folks who trouble me say God won’t hear my call.
They say there is no hope; God cannot help me now,
But still His word says, “Come, and humbly to me bow.”
I find that Christ’s my friend, my shield, my all in all;
Salvation is in Him, He hears me when I call.
His glory fills my soul, and He lifts my head high.
I know He’s ever there to hear my pleading cry.
Ten thousand foes may rise and fill the world with fear,
But Jesus smites them all if they should dare come near.
I cry unto the Lord; He hears me from His hill;
He says He’ll fight the foe and whispers, “Peace, be still.”
I find that Christ’s my friend, no matter what the trials,
I look into His face and I can see Him smile.
I lay me down to rest, and He sustains me there.
It’s great to have a friend who knows my every care.
I may have lived a life of which I am not proud,
But if I’ve come to Christ and at His cross have bowed,
I know He never will reject me for my past,
But will my sins forgive and in the sea be cast.
I find that Christ’s my friend because He stays with me,
He’ll keep me till the end and will my Master be.
He hides me in His love, and so I praise and sing;
It’s great to know the One who rules o’er everything.
Music has been written to these words.
