Chosen One
You're beautiful, I'm sure you know.
Girls surround you, hoping to be yours.
You chose me.
One month was all it took.
Forty-three thousand, eight hundred minutes.
Our first I love you's.
You chose me.
We spent all our time together.
I lost those closest to me, but I had you.
You chose me.
Why are you screaming?
He's just a friend, I love you.
You chose me.
My friends are asking about this fresh bruise.
I tell them I fell. They believe me.
How could I tell them the man I loved hit me.
You chose me.
My best friend signs my cast.
She didn't bother asking what happened.
She knew.
You chose me.
Curled in a corner.
My arms protecting my face.
You yell. You scream. You hit.
You chose me.
I lay in a hospital bed.
You're nowhere to be found.
The nurse asks me, and I tell her everything.
You chose me.
You're in handcuffs, swearing you'll be back.
You're in prison and I'm still terrified.
You chose me.
You chose me.
And I didn't realize that sometimes being chosen,
Is the worst thing that can happen.
