Choose Your News
I don't choose to watch the news
When it's read on the telly
Mostly bad, sometimes sad
It turns my legs to jelly
Has the world gone to "pot"?
Is there no consolation
Do we expect too much
From an un-united nation
Loss of respect
And care for each other
Gone is the shoulder to shoulder
Brother to brother
Too much me, too little us
Every little hiccup
Causes consternation and fuss
Writing this verse
Has given food for thought
Sometimes the news
Happiness has brought
It's amazing how time
Makes it possible to think
This poem has been penned
As our TV
IS ON THE BLINK!
