Choice

I live with the ghost of the promises we broke
And the fear of the pain and regret
I wonder at times if the words we once ryhmed
Are words I'm supposed to forget

You live with the pain of anger in vain
And fear that I'll give up or give in
I'm offering to make up for the pain
But you have to give me a chance again

Inside the confusion lies the answers you need
And until you make up your mind
The love of the past won't let you be free
And the love now is making you blind

Run away, walk away, turn around, stay
But do something that gives you a voice
Don't let others make decisions for you
That should be only your choice

So I wait, and you struggle inside of yourself
Knowing the truth of where your dreams lie
A heart in your hands and one on the shelf
Which will continue or die with goodbye?

So I live with the ghost of the promises we broke
And the fear of the pain and regret
But I remember those times when the words did rhyme
And I know I can never forget
