Child's Love For Extended Family

I love my Auntie,
My Uncle
My Mum,
My Grandad.
I love the family I haven't met,
My cousin says they're in a far away land.
Their skin is a different colour,
Their curls don't look like my curls.
My Nanna says that long hair is for Boys and for Girls. I agree.
We don't dress the same!
Their accents are funny!
But does that mean I have an accent too?
Hugging my extended family,
Feels sweet like honey.
My parents showed me on the map,
I know it's far away.
But one day I'll go there,
Or they'll come here and we can play.
My heart can hold hope, not sadness today.
I won't let it!
I love my big family,
Wherever they are!
We might live on different lands,
But we are under the same stars.
