Children Seeking Attention and Love
The Children Who Are Seeking Attention and Love
They parade into my office in lines of one
Because I am the counselor, and lots of fun.
They need attention in any kind of way.
When some leave the classroom, they make their teacher’s day.
They are sorry and sad, disappointed with life.
They are full of anger, furious their daddy has a new wife.
They have been displaced, misplaced, ignored and shunned.
I try to give them a moment to share their story, their day in the sun.
They come up and hug me in the hallway needing someone to care.
Some are clean, courteous, others angry that their life is unfair.
They beg me to see them almost every day of the week.
It is actually their parents love and attention they truly do seek.
