Children of the Electronic Age
Children of the Electronic Age
By Elton Camp
Many parents will know exactly what I mean
Kids, a time without technology, haven’t seen
“Back in the day,” cellular phones didn’t exist
Thus, what we never had couldn’t be missed
Only the wealthy ever had any mobile phone
So they’d stay in touch when away from home
Computers only in research were then found
But to our individual homes they came around
When it was school information we needed
It was to the encyclopedia that we speeded
To a friend or relative we wanted to send a note
Then it was a letter in the mail that we wrote
Now the Internet provides instant communication
And can be accessed without endless frustration
Once a child was thrilled to have his own TV set
Now the latest telephone and computer he’ll get
