Childhood Prayer

As I lay me down to sleep…
Later Lord, this just won’t keep
Can I have that beautiful doll
The one with the curly hair, next to the wall…
Oh yeah, I pray the Lord my soul will keep…

Thank you Lord for all your blessings of today
(and thanks for keeping that maths test away)
Thank you Lord for all we share
Especially having so few sprouts to spare
Thanks Lord, that made my day

Lord Bless, mummy and keep her well
Lord bless daddy and make him tell
The surprise he’s only hinted at
It’s sure to be good, so have a chat
And send me an angel ‘cause I nearly fell

I ‘m tired now and have nothing left to say
So Lord, we’ll chat another day
Oh one more thing before I go
An important thing you just have to know
I love you Lord and soon will learn to pray.
