Child Adoption
The ever congratulated option
Of willing absorption
Of a blood distant,
Making it yours, the next instant…
In a court surfacing,
All official papers filling,
An affidavit swearing,
One’s honest signature endorsing,
Every bill handling
And a parent’s face wearing…
Wa-o-ow! A final elevation
To parenthood
And appropriate salivation
Over what is adjudged good;
A riddance to the worse
Through some good money from one’s purse.
It’s now a new scenery
Of oft shouted “Da-ddy and Mu-mmy!”
By some chatterbox and canary
That didn’t its beginning have in your wife’s tummy
Pleasantries no longer revolve
Round just you and your wife
For electing to brazenly involve
Another life.
