Chief Koakki

They came across the still blue waters
Killed our Braves, Raped our Daughters
Slaughtered our food, just for the HIDE
Indian's world and white man's Collide
Under the full MOON "Chief Koakki" Cried

They scar and mar the Southwest Plains
Pollute our rivers, while damming the Rains
Keep us on reservations with unfettered chains
Soldiers : guarding with rifles to keep us inside
Under the full MOON "Chief Koakki" Sighed

Treaties,Promises,Speeches with forked tongue
Teaching these ungodly depravities to our Young
The stately NATIVE AMERICANS go UNSUNG
Their History,Heritage,in my heart ALWAYS Abide
Under the full MOON "Chief Koakki" Died

Still, it will never be the end of indian race, or heritage. no revenge is always the key to peace. comprimise and then maybe use darkness to defeat darkness. in the end. the good never "fully" dies. and Harry.im sorry for taking so long on your contest information. if you have another partner because of my slow replies. i don't blame you.(: and i am not upset. i love you always big bro. -Always&Forever your sister spirit Lynn

Oh, reading this poem breaks my heart deeply. Such an amazing write and terribly sad tribute. As far as comments go, if you want to receive comments, you must comment on other people's poetry. It would be nice to comment on those who ever comment on yours, but there are so many kind poets who would return the favor. So, when you have time, sit down, read new poems and make comments on several different poets whose work you like. Hugs, me xoxo

Absolutely got chills at the very last line. Horribly sad and disturbing in its truth. Love how the last line in every verse is similar, the very last line of course, so heartbreaking. To this day I feel shame for what we did to a beautiful culture. Wonderful write. Love, Shar
