Chewing the Fat

Narratives or at least that's what I call them Without doubt win hands down every time I've deviated with limericks and couplets and stuff But I'm back to the old poems that rhyme Very similar to when we go away on vacation It feels so good to finally get back home Everytime we deviat from our regular patterns Though we enjoy it a bunch when we roam Guess it's familiarity that we're always craving Friendly faces of the people we know No hidden agendas, no scams to contend with Just the same old routine, same old show Comfortable is a very good word to describe it That down home feeling when with friends Like always being in style with jeans and Adidas Instead of trying to keep up with the trends Give me that plain old simple way of living It surely wins hands down ever time That's how I roll, I'm just a simple old hayseed Sitting around chewing the fat is just fine

Hello Happy Jack, just because a fashion comes in as a trend, does not mean everyone will wear it. I find most of these trends are for the younger generation. Love, Darlenexxxx-oooo.

A fine, fine poem, Jack. I'm glad to see you return to your ol' stomping ground. I have enjoyed the limericks, but I like your rhymes, too.

I'm torn between the two! Still a fan of both! Maybe a limerick's just around the corner! Cheers my friend!

I do appreciate the "Instead of trying to keep up with the trends". I, too, get real tired of these trends (especially as an 8th grader!). I love this poem SO much! (how did I not think of it first???)

Aha found another "hayseed" LOL Keeping up for me is keeping my ears open and listening for clues! Sometimes spelling gets me if it's very similar to another word! XOX

We've tried them all Jack but once a rhymer always a rhymer, I'm the same. Hope your Sunday is going well. Tom

I salute this! I'm comfy with limericks and quatrains, Seussian rhymes, as I call them. Haiku is word salad to me most days, lol. I try a lot of different things, but I imagine we've all got a "home style". Enjoyed, thanks!

I always seem to end up here... it always seems like home! Thanks for dropping my friend with a similar outlook!
