Would I be a total crouton if I were to ask about the clock? My bro was chess team pro dude and when he played someone at home, they used a clock that each tapped at the top at the end of their turn? I am not taking away from the poem which I find intelligent with questions and witty with delivery, it made me grin. Pls don't emphasize my clock memory-confusion. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

No, I meant crouton, like on a salad. At the risk of being an even crispier crouton, I wanna share that my bro was clock tappin in the early 70's. Oh, I see - perhaps elective in the 70's, the clock is now mandatory which caused upset in the quiet world of chess. Is such upset something non-chess players can hear, I wonder? Just having fun in the 2010's! Good night.

CayCay, I could never ever think of you as a crouton! -- did you mean 'cretin?' -- no matter what, esp. not for this. In fact, you're right. Chess is often played with time limits and a clock now, which 'purists' despise, but which is the way of the world. Action is the name of any game these days... they say it is a sport, even had its own club...chess perhaps the way of the sport is the mental strategy? i could hold my own as a kid, but never against a pro! Enjoyed this one as well :) hugs
