The Cup - develops the theme, viewpoints, arguments, ideas
5 lines => 9,8,7,6,5 syllables
The Stem - pithy phrases, short sharp adage, paradox, or questioning
6 lines => 4,3,2,1,1,1 syllables
The Base - conclusion, resolution, epilogue
2 lines => 4,7 syllables

We charge our glasses with endearment—
all agreeing that this matters
to bear witness, all sharing
our loss in reflection,
a celebration
charge your glasses,
clinks all round
drink deep
ends-
up
cheers
with emptied cups
upturned and glinting skywards
