Chasing The Shadows Of The Past

I step through echoes, faint but near,
Each one a whisper in my ear.
Shadows stretch across the lane,
Tracing outlines of old pain.
Yet somehow, in their quiet way,
They guide me forward;stay.

But as the stars begin to rise,
I find new light in tired skies.
The past may hold my hand tonight,
Yet dawn will bring its softer light.
And in the hush of morning’s sway,
I hear them fading on my way.
