Chasing the Morning Dew
Chasing the Morning Dew
by Lori Maria Walton
Sitting alone in a world of rhyme
I marvel longingly at the pass of time
Created for day and night
But when watched closely must take flight
Careful not to disturb the balance
Between love of time and chafed heart callous
One can wait for eternity
If only a second love is free
Free to roam among the fields
Of romantic flower and jasmine shields
A moment can be preserved forever
To create a lifetime to endeavor
Standing next to evening rain
Pondering life through a window pane
Shadows drink my desires away
Exiting the stage of this life's play
Drunken slurs of memories past
She waits for him her role to cast
So life can go beyond the moment
Begin to breathe and not lament
But in the present she remains torn
To laugh and love and surely mourn
The years to come without a view
She continues to chase the morning dew
